Asgard plugs into future equities growth
Asgard Wealth Solutions has partnered with online broker Etrade to launch a new online equities trading facility on its eWrap investment platform.
Shareport enables advisers to invest in Australian listed equities on eWrap on behalf of clients and also provides them with comprehensive equities market data and client trading histories.
Integrated within Asgard’s platform software AdviserNET and AdviserNETgain, Shareport is the latest in a series of initiatives by Asgard to enable advisers to manage their client equity holdings on eWrap.
It follows a related Asgard partnership with platform provider Praemium late last year to provide “behind the scenes” client portfolio administration and tax optimisation facilities on the eWrap platform.
“We know there’s a need for improved equities transacting among advisers, so we’ve decided to give them the tools to do so,” Asgard general manager of product Dean Thomas said.
“In addition, we believe equities will comprise 30 to 40 per cent of advisers’ client portfolios in the next three to five years, and as such we’ve built the foundations to allow us to deal with that growth.”
Shareport’s launch was preceded by an “extensive review of the trading and execution windows” of other platforms offering Australian equities trading, Thomas told Money Management.
“On the basis of this review, we believe Shareport is far superior in terms of the information it provides and also in the way that we’ve built it to be able to deal with multiple brokers in the future.
“That’s in addition to offering advisers a straight-through log-in to clients’ equities trading portfolios, while all portfolio research, valuation and trading and execution is done online.”
On the Praemium partnership, Thomas said it had enabled advisers to better manage their clients’ portfolios in eWrap, including ‘switching on’ tax optimisation.
“They can also see the unrealised gain positions of their client portfolios, and the impact on these positions if they sold particular assets.”
