VicSuper opens regional advice centre
By Rebecca Evans
Victorian Minister for Finance John Lenders officially opened VicSuper’s superannuation advice centre in Bendigo on Monday, the second of its kind in regional Victoria operated by the industry superannuation provider.
Staffed by VicSuper’s superannuation advisers, the centre offers workplace seminars for organisations that want to give staff access to specialist advice on super issues, as well as a range of educational seminars to help people make sense of super and plan for retirement.
The centre will offer obligation free one-on-one superannuation advice at no charge for VicSuper members, their families and friends and will aim to assist with topics such as salary sacrifice, successful retirement planning and sustainability investing.
VicSuper’s Bendigo advice centre manager Greg Chapman says the opening of the operation is testament to the fund’s commitment to servicing the needs of its regional client base.
“Preparing for income needs in retirement is an issue that affects everyone. As a local resident of Bendigo, I’ve watched over the years as financial institutions have closed branches in regional areas, disadvantaging residents,” he says.
“Planning for the income you’ll need in retirement isn’t as complicated as people are led to believe, provided you have ready access to information, assistance and advice when you need it,” Chapman says.
