van Eyk Research has taken on the online investment strategy market.

van Eyk Research director Mark Thomas says the launch of the new project is to simplify information and news.

“The chief focus of the site is to help people develop investment strategies to help themselves,” he says. “We are arming people with education at an investment level.”

Thomas says the site cost the company about $500,000 and took more than one year to complete. It offers a range of educational online features ranging from port-folio profiles, share information and interactive links.

“Our model is B2B. We are working with a master trust, wrap account and in the super market to the financial advisers. We are an investment strategy based on a research base,” he says.

Thomas says the most impressive feature of the site is its virtual elements.

The site hosts virtual assistants with quirky similarities to James Bond characters.

The assistants, Ms Chevious, Under secretary — James, Ben Graham and Dr Lucas Backwards guide users through investment products and objectives.

The assistants also invite users to attend live interactive video sessions where experts can offer immediate information in real time. The video sessions will allow up to 400 people logged on at the same time.

The site also guides users through a structured approach to developing an investment strategy, developing risk profile, research information on managed funds and shares.

Thomas says the site has a series of different sections. The sections include: dy-namic growth; Stalwarts (for moderate growers); slugs (for mature style growers); cyclical (resources and earnings that are tied into the cycle of the economy); and asset situations.
