Queensland financial planning practice joins AFS Group
The Australian Financial Services (AFS) Group has bolstered its presence in Queensland, with the Brisbane-based financial planning practice Alps Network deciding to align with the dealer group.
Alps Network's principals Peter Larkin and Lance Meikle have around 45 years of combined experience in the financial planning industry, with strong taxation and business management backgrounds.
Meikle said the Brisbane-based practice and the AFS Group had similar "values of independence" and that the new fee-for-service era would provide opportunities for professional financial planners to grow and prosper.
AFS Group chief executive officer Peter Daly commended Larkin and Meikle for their "commitment to the financial planning industry".
The announcement comes just weeks after the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) imposed additional license conditions on the AFS Group, amid concerns about the appropriateness of the financial advice provided at the group.
