Potter departs InvestorWeb Research
The general manager of research atInvestorWeb, Toby Potter, has left the group, departing on Friday after two years with the group.
Potter joined InvestorWeb as chief operating officer for research in October 2001 but took on the role of general manager of research, the role he held at the time of leaving.
Speaking toMoney Managementon Friday, Potter says the decision to leave the group was amicable and was the result of an ongoing review and restructure of the group’s research division.
Potter will not be replaced with distribution of the group’s research to be tied into the overall distribution of InvestorWeb and IWL branded products including research Visiplan and VisiWeb.
InvestorWeb Research chief executive Otto Buttula says as part of the restructure the group’s Melbourne-based team will cover the development of all research products in the group with more resources being directed to the group’s work.
This move has so far included the appointment of Robert Argieri, who is heading the research division but with a focus on further product development.
The business development and sales support for research is also under review as part of an examination of the sales and marketing of all InvestorWeb products and services.
According to Buttula clients of the group are interested in the whole suite of products and these moves would close the gaps in the development and sales areas.
Potter joined InvestorWeb fromMorningstarwhere he held the role of head of sales for 21 months after leavingAusmaqin January 2000.
His move from InvestorWeb comes on the heels of senior investment analyst Ben Davis moving to Zenith Investment Partners, the group created by David Wright and David Smythe in June of this year after their departure from InvestorWeb Research in October 2002.
The departure of David and Potter, alongside that of Smythe, Wright and analysts Piers Bolger and David Parr represents a complete turnover of the funds management research team in the last 15 months.
