A new online resource providing planners with client-tailored solutions in philanthropy through education, tools and accredited training has been launched with the support of some industry heavyweights.

Specialist philanthropy services provider Enrich Australia created Gateway for Giving as a resource for advisers managing the giving strategies of clients.

AMP Capital Investors, Perpetual, Social Ventures Australia and Makinson d’Apice Lawyers have backed the venture as founding sponsors.

Gatewayforgiving.com.au teaches advisers how to implement effective giving strategies as well as provides the general public with information on not-for-profit organisations operating across almost all causes.

According to Enrich Australia director Tim Hardy, philanthropy has a legitimate place in financial planning considering high-net-worth individuals give 2 per cent of their taxable income to charity.

“Philanthropy is a dimension of financial planning that should be an integral part of any client’s wealth plan,” he said.

“Advisers can’t ignore the implications of client giving as it strengthens relationships with clients and their families, introduces some innovative alternatives for handling their tax liabilities, and provides opportunities for securing funds under management.”

Enrich Australia provides consulting services to advisers aiming to advance best practice standards within philanthropy and also helps the not-for-profit sector develop strategic relationships with advisers.
