Perpetual Investmentshas today unveiled a specialist Australian shares fund and a series of new multi-manager funds as part of a bid to boost the options available for advisers through the group’s allocated pension and superannuation products.

The two multi-manager funds - the Blended Balanced fund and the Blended Growth fund - will be set up by asset consulting group Towers Perrin, although perpetual itself will lay down the strategic asset allocation parameters for the funds.

The new Australian share fund, the Alpha Quant Share fund, will invest in Australian industrial and resource shares and restrict itself to a purely style neutral approach.

Perpetual general manager of adviser distribution Damien Crowley says the Alpha Quant Share fund’s aim will be to outperform the S&P/ASX 300 by two to three per cent each year.

The fund, which has been running internally since February last year, has returned 12.4 per cent in the 12 months to the end of February.

The new series of funds, along with Perpetual’s existing Diversified Growth and Mortgages funds, will be added to the menu of Perpetual’s Super and Rollover plan and Allocated Pension Plan from the 1st of May.

Crowley says research conducted by the group late last year indicated advisers were increasingly looking for an additional array of options, particularly in allocated pension products.

The revamped menu for the Super and Rollover plan and Allocated Pension Plan will be accompanied by a new commission structure for advisers using the products.

Under the new structure, advisers will have their commission on the upfront fee associated with the products increased from 80 to 97.5 per cent, but will have the option to waive part or all of their initial or ongoing commission as a reward to valuable clients.

Perpetual has also introduced nil entry fee options for four of the investment options offered by the two plans - the Australian Share option, the International Share option, the Balances Growth option and the Diversified Growth option.
