Emerging growth-style manager Orion Asset Management has announced the formation of a distribution alliance with US-based boutique asset management firm, Trilogy Global Advisors.

Under the deal, Orion will introduce clients and investors to three new funds being established by Trilogy.

While the arrangement is initially institutionally focussed, Orion has indicated it will be looking towards retail distribution down the track.

Commenting on the arrangement, Trilogy chief investment officer Bill Sterling said the company was excited about the possibilities in Australia and committed to building its client base in this country.

Orion business manager Dominic Fallins said the four-year-old boutique had been working with Sterling for some years and knew his team at Trilogy well.

“The other key attractions for us are that Trilogy’s approach to managing both their business and their clients’ money is very similar to our own, and their global and emerging markets products are top quality,” he said.

The former chief investment officer at Credit Suisse Asset Management Australia, Tim Ryan, founded Orion Asset management in 2002.
