Norwich Union has embarked on an aggressive push into the New South Wales market by basing its new national sales manager, Shaun Williams in Sydney.

Norwich has its main office in Melbourne but has already placed a number of senior managers in the Sydney location. At present these include life risk manager Phil Hill, corporate accounts national manager Peter Fysh and national underwriting manager Peter Tilocca. The group will be bolstered further with the addition of Brian Beattie as technical marketing manager when he joins the group in the near future.

Already active in the new position, Williams will oversee Norwich Union's national key and superannuation account managers. As such he will be involved with the development of the group's relationships with independent advisers across superannuation, investment products and retail insurance.

Prior to the new position Williams spent two years as a key account manager for Victoria and Tasmania with Norwich and with Colonial for 18 months as state manager for those two states. He also spent three years based in Colonial's Brisbane office as state manager for Queensland.

Norwich says the appointment of Williams to the new position was a strategic move which will enhance distribution and adviser support systems and builds on the other senior positions within the Sydney office.
