Morningstar appoints manager research director from TCorp

Morningstar Australasia has appointed Eva Cook as director for manager research and new asset class lead in equities in Australia and New Zealand. 

With significant experience in portfolio construction and manager selection, Cook will be tasked with leading the qualitative research on Australian and New Zealand fund managers.

She joins the research house from TCorp, where she was the head of equity, partner selection, covering over $43 billion of investments across developed, emerging and Australian equities. She also oversaw the internal investments teams looking into unlisted real estate and unlisted infrastructure. 

She has also worked at BT Financial Group, serving as a portfolio manager, equities, managing $25 billion in funds under management in listed equities, infrastructure and REITs. 

Cook’s resume also includes nearly two years as an executive director at global consultancy Sheffield Haworth and two years as the head of business advisory and global research at Primary Asset Consulting, where she advised fund managers, wealth managers, super funds and sovereign wealth funds in building their fund management capabilities.

“Working with Morningstar’s regional and wider global manager research teams, Eva will continue to support investors, advisers and superannuation funds in providing them with independent research and investment insights.”

According to Cook, her passion for supporting clients resonates with Morningstar’s mission. 

“I am eager to contribute to the Morningstar team and support our clients and investors,” she stated.

Earlier this year, Morningstar tapped former Lonsec chief executive Olsen for the role of director, manager research ratings.

Joining the firm in July, Olsen leads the global firm’s Australasian manager research team and its research coverage on Australian and New Zealand fund managers, working with advisers, investors and superannuation funds.
