Melbourne adviser, Tim Townsend, has launched his own financial advisory community called WealthLeaders eXchange.

Townsend has created the organisation in association with Samantha Noy, executive officer at the CFA Societies Australia and Graeme Miller, investment analyst at Watershed Funds Management.

It hopes to bring together financial advisers with fund managers for collaboration and to help each party understand the other’s needs and challenges.

His financial advice and private wealth firm TownsendCobain is based in Melbourne and offers comprehensive wealth management services to individuals, families, and privately held companies.

He has been in the industry for 25 years including time at Outlook Financial Planning, Perpetual Private Clients, and as chief executive of WHK Melbourne, a financial planning division of wealth management and accounting firm WHK Group.

Townsend said: “What we’ve observed over recent years is a fragmentation of advisory networks, which has made it increasingly challenging for advisers to connect deeply with their peers, especially concerning investment-related matters.

“With WLX, our vision is to create a dynamic platform that empowers leading advisers to exchange ideas and insights, ultimately raising the bar for best practices in our industry.”

The organisation has two forums planned in Melbourne and Sydney in 2024 and has signed up Warakirri Asset Management as a foundation sponsor.

Stuart Devlin, head of distribution at Warakirri, said: “WLX presents an exceptional opportunity for us to collaborate with top-tier advisers, share invaluable insights, and contribute to a community dedicated to delivering best-in-class investment solutions for clients.”
