Martin records actuary milestone

Towers Perrin principal Helen Martin, will soon create history by becoming the youngest person to hold presidency at the Institute of Actuaries, following her re-cent appointment as junior vice president.
Martin, who will also be the second woman in 100 years to have the opportunity to reach presidential status at the Institute, will reach her milestone in 2002. She will remain a junior vice president this year, and upgrade her status to senior vice presi-dent next year.
Martin has over a decade of volunteer involvement with the institute as a tutor, ex-aminer, committee member and councillor.
Martin joins David Knox, who is the incoming President for 2000, and Tony Coleman who will be next year’s senior vice president and then president in 2001.
She says, she would like to see continued improvement of the communication be-tween institute members and the community at large.
