Macquarie fills research head gap
Macquarie Funds Management has appointed Lloyd Alty as head of research for its cash, fixed interest and currency division, filling a role left vacant for the past six months.
Dean Stewart had been heading research for the 26-strong team until late last year, when he transferred to the head of fixed interest post.
Both he and Alty will report to head of fixed interest and currency, Wayne Fitzgibbon.
Alty was previously head of structured foreign exchange at Commonwealth Bank, and before that built systems for the ABN Amro debt markets team, before being promoted to a trading role.
Alty gained a PhD at Cambridge University under Professor Stephen Hawking, at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
