Recentlydeparted Morningstar Research head of sales Toby Potter will shortly rejoin the industry in a sales and marketing position with the research division of financial services group InvestorWeb.

From early October, Potter will take on the role of InvestorWeb Research chief operating officer. He will be in charge of managing the commercial side of InvestorWeb’s research business with a focus on seeking out distribution opportunities and marketing and liasing with clients in both an operational and business sense.

InvestorWeb Research chief research officer David Wright, who remains in charge of research manufacture, says the separation of the research business and commercial aspects was necessary due to the growth of the group.

News of Potter’s appointment comes hard on the heels of his leaving Morningstar, after the latter conducted a review of the part of the business previously headed by Potter.
