InvestorWeb launches research alternative
InvestorWeb Research has established a dedicated department to evaluate alternative investments.
The Alternative Investment Research unit will cover a “diverse range” of alternative offerings, including structured products, hybrids, absolute return funds and private equity products, the group said yesterday.
InvetsorWeb chief executive Otto Buttula said there is a “clear niche available for a researcher which can independently evaluate these sometimes very complex structures in a professional and scientific manner”.
“We’ve been aware for some time of the increasing range and depth of products available to advisers, and anticipate that they will benefit from the creation of our dedicated department,” he said.
Angela Ashton, previously managed investment manager at Aegis Equities Research, has been appointed to manage InvestorWeb’s new alternative investment research unit.
Buttula described Ashton as having “more experience in the area of alternative investments than virtually anyone in managed funds research today”.
She will report to Tim Schroeders, who has been appointed general manager — independent research, and as such will oversee all research functions at InvestorWeb Research, including all managed fund and equities research.
Schroeders joined InvestorWeb as an equities analyst in December 2003 from County Investment Management.
