Investors growing in confidence
US institutional investors are becoming more confident, according to the latest State Street Investor Confidence Index.
The May index has revealed that investor confidence rose by 8.7 points to 81 from a revised April level of 72.3 points, with North American investors being the key drivers.
The index showed that the appetite of North American investors increased by 8 points from 77 points in April to 85 points in May.
It said that there had been little change in other areas, with European investor confidence falling half a point to 76.3 and Asian investor confidence rising by 0.2 to 86.4.
Commenting on the index, Harvard University professor Ken Froot said the increase in the global index represented a significant move and suggested the outlook of institutional investors was brighter than it had been for some time.
