InTech names new investment research head

InTech Researchhas appointed a new head of investment research, with Michael Coop stepping into the role.

Coop’s experience in investment research covers both investment management and asset consulting roles, with time spent at companies includingIpac SecuritiesandBT Funds Management.

Coop also has offshore experience, namely in London where he worked with fund manager AXA-Sun Life Investment Management and asset consultant Bacon and Woodrow.

Based in Sydney, he will now focus on the group’s broader investment research activities, while reporting to chief investment officer Ron Liling.

Coop’s role will also include leveraging the resources of the group’s alliance with US consultant CRA RogersCasey.

InTech executive director Brett Elvish says Coop’s appointment is part of the group’s aim for specialisation in its activities, after successfully moving to a specialist manager research team structure in 2001.

InTech’s other specialist teams include the manager research and portfolio management teams headed up by Fraser Murray and Chris Thompson respectively.
