Forums to foster financial planning alliances

In an effort to facilitate the exchange of expertise and ideas among financial planners, the Australian Financial Services Group (AFS) is set to launch a series of nationwide peer group forums.
The forums, part of the Melbourne-based dealer group’s strategy to help advisers and practice managers hone their business and leadership skills, differ from many larger conferences in that they are participant-led and encourage group discussion.
AFS Group chief executive Peter Daly said the forums are a response to adviser calls for a program that would enable them to form alliances within the industry and create and deliver presentations on issues they have faced and developed strategies to deal with.
“One of the most powerful steps a dedicated adviser or practice manager can take in their career or personal and professional development is to become involved with a group of industry or business peers.
“The conversations generated by forum participants yield priceless nuggets of information for those dedicated professionals that wish to efficiently operate their practices and grow personally and professionally.”
The forums, hosted by AFS Preferred Partners, will be held on a regular basis and run for approximately two hours over a boardroom lunch. Participants will set the agenda and prepare and deliver presentations on issues they consider to be of relevance and interest to all attendees.
