Fund manager Fidelity Investments Australia is posting a free practice management tool to thousands of adviser mailboxes to get greater brand awareness within the Australian financial planning community.

Dubbed PracticeOne, the tool, which comes in a CD-ROM format, is split into five different modules including human resources, succession planning and prospecting for new business.

Close to 8,000 copies of the first module, which is on human resources, were posted to advisers yesterday.

As well as providing tools such as how to create an online job advertisement, the first module also contains case studies provided by van Eyk Research managing director Stephen van Eyk, Count Financial chief operating officer Marianne Perkovic and Financial Wisdom general manager Paul Barrett.

“We understand that many advisers are sceptical about practice management programs, however, PracticeOne is about practical tools and case studies — not reams of theory,” said Fidelity director of marketing Brook Carter.

A spokesperson from Fidelity said the tool does not make recommendations to Fidelity products, adding that the US-based fund manager feels it is not as well-known as it could be in the Australian market and recognises planner demand for practice management information.

Advisers who don’t receive a copy in the post can order one for free.
