Depleted InvestorWeb spins a restructure
IWL-owned research house InvestorWeb has merged its traditional and alternative research teams, shifted the team from Melbourne to Sydney and installed recently appointed head of alternative research, Angela Ashton, as head of the new unit.
The move comes less than a week after Money Management reported that InvestorWeb could be left with just one traditional managed fund analyst if a replacement for outgoing Melbourne-based head Rodney Sebire isn’t found by the end of the month.
Sebire, who will leave IWL to go to Skandia, told Money Management InvestorWeb could have difficulty finding his replacement thanks to a current shortage of quality analysts in Melbourne.
Ashton, who only came to InvestorWeb in April this year and who is based in Sydney, said that she was currently interviewing several candidates in Sydney to replace Sebire.
She added the old traditional funds research team based in Melbourne will all be moved up to Sydney to be with her as part of the amalgamation.
“We have a great opportunity to rebuild a fantastic team and do a lot in a very short time,” Ashton said.
Murray West, who joined InvestorWeb as an analyst just a fortnight ago, will continue to focus on alternative products.
