Dealer talkfest
The FPA is expecting around 100 principal members to roll up to its third dealer principal’s conference at the Parkroyal Surfers Paradise on 18-19 August.
The conference, themed "Dealers Listening to Dealers", aims to encourage active sharing of information among dealer principals, according to conference chair Leonie Henry.
"We are trying to create a culture of learning from each other, so we've invited a dealer from each state to do a presentation about a particular aspect of their business that is relevant to dealers at the moment," she says.
The conference will feature keynote speakers, Tim Moore CEO of Hartley Poynton JDV who will speak about the impact of e-commerce on the industry and David Burke, a personality expert, will speak about leadership style and how it affects business.
"Dealers are the people driving our industry," she says. "We [dealers] need to have a much higher awareness of issues like changes in legislation and regulation because effectively we influence the way the industry goes forward.
The principals conference gives us an opportunity to explore different issues at a different level and it also provides us with a forum to speak very openly about our businesses."
