DeakinFinancial Servicesand salary packaging administration company, Salary Packaging Services Australia (SPS), have announced a strategic alliance intended to enhance the core business activities of both groups.

SPS is a salary-packaging provider that has been expanding its product set and distribution network over the past year.

SPS chief executive Vivienne Corcoran says the company provides cost and tax-effective products and services to employees, as well as managing the complex transactions behind them on the employer’s behalf.

“This new alliance with Deakin adds to our existing network of advisers and consultants across the country and will increase the number of people who can take advantage of tax-effective packaging,” Corcoran says.

Deakin has created a new management position to market and promote the service, appointing Jeffrey Morphett as national manager, salary packaging.

Morphett has a background as both an adviser and manager in organisations includingTower, FAI, Legal and General, and City Mutual.

“In this newly created senior role, Morphett will be required to manage all aspects of the strategic alliance with SPS and recruit a team of specialist ‘enrollers’ across Australia,” says Deakin Financial Services managing director Murray Hills.
