Australia's largest professional association CPA Australia has announced plans to develop the first business-to-business Internet portal for professional organisations in Australia.

The 92,000-member accounting body and online publisher ArtSim have signed an agreement to develop the portal which has been dubbed Professionsnet.

The website will offer content and services for members of professional bodies, including business services, tools, products and applications. Members of affiliated groups will access the portal via their associations' Web site.

CPA Australia national deputy president Neil Walker says discussions are taking place with a number of professional organisations and prospective business partners.

"Affiliated professional organisations will benefit from being able to offer members a full range of internet services without having to invest in costly infrastructure and management, while sharing Professionsnet revenues," he says.
