Count Financial has moved to give itself a broader in-house ratings and research capability with the employment of an expert on its senior executive team.

The company has announced that it has employed former AMP Financial Planning research manager, Brendan Irwin to the new role of Senior Executive, Research and Product – something which will see him joining the Count senior executive team.

According to Count Financial chief executive Andrew Gale (pictured), Irwin would have responsibility for maintaining and reviewing the approved product list for investment products and insurance offerings.

At the same time, he said portfolio construction services, multi-manager capability and an enhanced direct investments capability would be important elements of Count’s research and product services.

Prior to being at AMP Financial Planning, Irwin was head of portfolio and products at St George Private Bank.

Gale said Irwin would have responsibility for ensuring advisers had access to suitable platform solutions, the creation of model portfolios and the identification of new business opportunities as they related to research.
