Cottam coms over to van Eyk
Research house van Eyk Research has joined dot com march, taking with them Australian equity specialist Tom Cottam.
Cottam will hold the position of seasoned investment analyst with vanEyk.com - a joint venture with van Eyk Research.
Cottam will work in the IT distribution arm of the company responsible for managing direct equities on the website. He will also carry out the duty of "marrying" the Web site's stock analysis, growth characteristics and value characteristics.
Cottam's vanEyk.com appointment enables him to work alongside his old friend and colleague, Rob Prugue.
"We are quite enthusiastic with him coming aboard and becoming a part of van Eyk dot com," says Prugue, head of research for van Eyk.
"I have known Tom for 11 years. I was initially hired by him at AMP, and worked under Tom at Axiom. I'm very pleased to work with him yet again. I saw him as a colleague, and a friend, as well as a mentor," he says.
As reported in Money Management's last issue, Cottam fell victim to last month's axing of Invesco Asset Management's personal investment team which Cottam headed. The axing was part of Invesco's relocation of Australian investment management business to Hong Kong.
Cottam has more than 36 years of experience in investment management including time with State Super, AMP and Axiom as well as stints in London and the Middle East.
