Commonwealth Bank makes an impression with Facebook
The Commonwealth Bank this week celebrated its first anniversary utilising social networking site Facebook, claiming to have over 100,000 fans.
The bank said that since launching its Facebook page, it had been working hard on developing and implementing a solid strategy to not only keep current fans engaged through interactive content, but to also create an environment in which the community could unite, share suggestions, seek advice and receive active real-time responses directly from the bank's dedicated customer service team.
It said the content strategy has resulted in multiple groundbreaking social campaigns that had not only exceeded internal expectations but had been short-listed for a number of local and international awards.
Commenting on the anniversary, Commonwealth Bank chief marketing and online officer Andy Lark said reaching the 100,000 fans mark in 12 months represented strong recognition for the bank.
"We're less interested in the industry echo-chamber and more interested in building bridges to customers in new ways," he said.
Lark said that November had seen the bank reach an engagement rate of over 20 per cent - one of the highest globally for any Facebook page.
