ChallengerFinancial Services has completed its Australian equities analyst team revamp with the addition of a banking analyst to round off an overhaul of the division under new head Peter Greentree.

Former Alliance Capital Management analyst Neil Margolis has been recruited to specialise in the banking, insurance and financial services sectors and joins recent analyst appointments Stuart Turner, Karen Towle and Michael Beavis.

Margolis has more than seven years financial services experience, and prior to his time with Alliance was an investment banking associate with JP Morgan.

He joins Turner who recently signed up from JP Morgan as part of a move to bolster Challenger’s capabilities in the gaming, infrastructure and development sectors.

Turner has more than 15 years industry experience, which includes spells at Macquarie InvestmentManagement and the Commonwealth Bank.

Earlier in the year the group appointed former Deutsche AssetManagement analyst Towle along with former Maple -Brown Abbott staffer Beavis into senior analyst roles.

According to Challenger wealth management head Rob Adams the latest appointment completes the firm’s analyst revamp.

The latest two recruits will report directly to Greentree who continues in his mandate to steer the Challenger business by focusing on raising manufacturing quality levels across the group’s equity investment funds.

“Funds management is all about people and our Australian equities team is now very well resourced,” Greentree says.

Since the appointment of Greentree in December 2003, two senior analysts have also departed the company.
