CFP exam misconduct
The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is currently investigating reports of rule breaches at a CFP certification examination conducted on May 18.
According to an email sent to candidates who sat the exam, the FPA considers these incidents to be “extremely serious” and fear they could compromise the exam’s integrity and validity.
The email stated that due to the nature of the incidents, the results for all candidates who presented for the exam would be withheld indefinitely.
The association assured candidates it would investigate the matter thoroughly and until it was satisfied the exam had been conducted in accordance with the rules governing the assessment, and that all participants had behaved in an ethical and professional manner.
Following the findings of the investigation, the CFP certification committee will decide whether to release the results.
An FPA spokesperson said making candidates re-sit the exam “would be a matter of last resort”.
Offenders could face penalties for their actions, which would be the decision of the CFP certification committee and the FPA’s disciplinary committee.
The investigation process is expected to be completed by the end of June.
