Challenger Financial Service has appointed AMP Capital Investors’ portfolio manager Alan Sheen as its head investment analyst, effectively its second major signing from AMP in a week.

Last week, Challenger subsidiary Genesys Wealth Advisers signed AMP Financial Planning’s managing director Greg Kirk to replace Ray Miles as managing director.

Sheen, also currently acting deputy to AMP’s director of Asian Investments, has been appointed general manager, investment teams within Challenger’s wealth management business.

Starting his new role in June, he will oversee the operational and business development of Challenger’s in-house investment team and products in his new role.

Before joining AMP, where, as portfolio manager, he is responsible for more than $9 billion in absolute return equity funds, he was a portfolio manager at IAG Asset Management.

He also held an investment management role with Secure Investment Group, where he was responsible for managing a private investment portfolio across Asia and the US.
