How we rated the raters
The Money Management Rating the Raters Surveywas carried out in conjunction with Tom Collins from the Tom Collins Consultancy. The survey covered the following research houses: Morningstar, Assirt, Lonsdale, van Eyk and InvestorWeb, each of which was consulted during the construction of the survey.
These groups were chosen after discussions with the research houses, other research groups, financial planners and funds management representatives.
The survey covered the areas of methodology and process, ethics and integrity and value of research, and was completed by those funds managers who together represent 80 per cent of retail funds under management. This group included a sizeable range of large, mid-sized and boutique investment houses, both Australian and overseas owned, working across a range of asset classes, and in business from a few years to a few decades.
As part of receiving their assistance and input, each funds management group was granted complete anonymity.
Of course, a number of funds managers either chose not to, or were unable to, respond. We look forward to having you onboard the next time we conduct this exercise.
Money Managementand Tom Collins would like to thank all those who agreed to take part for their time and candid responses in creating this unique set of results.
