Queensland insurer and financial services house Suncorp has named its new chief executive — former Aviva United Kingdom executive Patrick Snowball.

Snowball will take up his position from September 1 and succeeds Chris Skilton in the role.

Announcing the appointment today, Suncorp chairman John Story said Snowball had for the past two years been working with the Towergate group of companies as both a deputy chairman and chairman and had also served as a non-executive director of Jardine Lloyd Thompson.

Snowball said he was looking forward to relocating to Australia and setting up home in Brisbane.
