KPMG’s Martin to head actuarial body
The Australian Institute of Actuaries has a new president — Greg Martin, a director of KPMG Actuaries.
The institute announced Martin’s appointment today along with Trevor Thompson as senior vice-president and Bozenna Hinton as vice-president.
Thompson boasts a long history with AMP both in Australia and the UK while Hinton is a consultant to Rice Warner Actuaries.
Looking at the year ahead, the newly-elected Martin said that 2008 would present many challenges and opportunities for the actuarial profession, especially as the Federal Government rolled out its proposals for economic and social change.
“From tax reform to superannuation policy, regulation of the financial services sector and design of an emissions trading scheme, we can expect many initiatives to which we will be able to provide meaningful input,” he said.
