Bank of America Merrill Lynch Hong Kong deputy director of research Asia-Pacific, Simon Garing is joining Cromwell Property Group as its chief capital officer.

Cromwell chief executive Paul Weightman said the global real estate investment manager had performed well across the calendar year and had appointed Garing for specific growth driving within European REITs.

“Capital is increasingly global, with Asian capital, in particular becoming more prevalent in international markets. This trend can only continue, and I admire Cromwell’s strategy to attract these flows with a single-minded purpose to drive value for investors,” Garing said of his appointment.

Closer to home, the Cromwell Australian Property fund, which has been awarded a five-star Crown Rating in FE Analytics had an annualised three-year return of 11.27 per cent.

Garing would be based in Sydney in the new role.
